CD / DVD Screen Printing

CD / DVD Screen printing is one of the early methods of printing to CDs and DVDs and for designs that use Pantone colours or bold solid colours in the artwork design. CD / DVD Screen printing involves the passing of ink or any other printing medium through a mesh or 'screen' that has been stretched on a frame, and to which a stencil has been applied. The stencil openings determine the image that will be screen imprinted.

We can screen print up to six colours (including a white base) to all discs including recordable CDRs and DVDRs, as Pantone reference colours, CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) or a combination of both.

CD / DVD Screen printing also allows us to use specialist inks, so if you would like your disc to have metallic or fluorescent colours, or a matt varnish – screen printing is the process to use.

For the best results from screen printing the artwork should be created in Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator programs, and a high resolution file should be saved as CMYK at a minimum of 300 dpi. PDF or JPEG formats. If your image is to be screen printed in spot colours set the colours and please list them on your order. Do not create or save your artwork file as RGB, as this will give an inferior colour representation of the design when screen printed.

To ensure you get the very best possible screen print also to save delays we require artwork to be supplied in, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator or a high resolution PDF, TIFF  or Jpeg. All screen printed images should be 300 dpi at actual size for a crisp image. Artwork that is to be screen printed can be sent by e-mail or disc.

Screen printing has its limitations. Tints, vignettes, blends and some mainly complex designs do not always print well. We can advise you on this. In screen printing you should not use font sizes less than 6 point as registration maybe a problem.

Regarding screen printing images - All colour bitmaps MUST be saved in CMYK format (NOT RGB or indexed colour) Black & White images can be saved in Grayscale format.

Disc Makers can screen print the standard 5” (12cm) and 3” (8cm) CDs and DVDs, also screen print CDRs and DVDRs from 100 units with or without data burned onto them.
