CD / DVD Printing Litho | Screen | Digital

There are five different types of CD and DVD on-body printing available of which Disc Makers offer the three most professional systems: Litho Printing, Screen Printing and Digital Printing.

All three give high quality printing results and each one has a major benefit over the other two.

CD / DVD Litho Printing  CD / DVD Screen Printing  CD / DVD Digital Printing

Litho printing will give high colour resolution and is ideal for photographic images within the artwork design. Disc Maker’s litho printing machines use CMYK plus White base, therefore giving the full colour range. With Litho you cannot create actual Pantone reference colours.

Screen printing is one of the early methods of printing to CDs and DVDs and ideal for designs that use Pantone colours or bold solid colours in the artwork design. Screen printing is not good for high definition images. We can screen print 4 - 5 Pantone spot colours on CDs or DVDs.

Digital Printing is the professional alternative to offset printing, and is ideal for printing personalised discs. Digital Printing gives an impressive (2400 dpi) high resolution high-gloss print. Digital printing is more expensive than Litho or Screen Printing, but ideal for low quantities (10+). For quantities 300+ we can offer serialisation printing flexibility: names, addresses etc. on each CD or DVD.

Other Printing Options not offered by Disc Makers:

  • Ink Jet Printing uses CMYK soluble inks on the printable surface of CDR & DVDRs discs
  • Paper label printing using the inkjet CMYK system

Disc Makers do not offer Ink jet printing, as this has major drawbacks with colour coming off when the discs are handled. Also printed labeled discs can become unstable when used in computer tray drives or CD / DVD players.
